13 April 2019, 12:30 - 14:30
In memory of our dear friend, Leo Hauer (AKA Brummelbear)
Before Brummerbear passed, he took me aside at his last Belle Isle event and made one request: please host a Letterboxing geocache 101 event and invite our friends to speak about Letterbox Hybrid geocaches. Then Leo pulled from the back of his van boxes and boxes of letterboxing supplies to support this endeavor (he wasn't going to take NO as an answer!). And what could be more fitting than to host this event during Geocaching.com's Creation Celebration!
This event is for new and experienced hiders and finders of Letterbox Hybrid Geocaches
A Letterbox Hybrid is a type of geocache that uses clues instead of coordinates. The geocache will contain a letterboxing stamp, and, typically, finders will use their personal letterbox stamps to "sign" the log.
If you sign the event log with your letterboxing stamp, you get an extra raffle ticket for one of 3 larger prizes!
The event is easily accessible just off Woodward Ave and north of I-696
First Presbyterian Church
529 Hendrie Blvd
Royal Oak, MI
12:30 to 2:30 PM
With the help of our friends, we will share the joys of a good letterbox experience.
We will share recommended practices on hiding and finding Letterbox Hybrid geocaches.
Plus a lot of goodies and giveaways!
