Autumn 2025
MiGO's membership year runs December 1 through November 30.  Since 2020, MiGO has offered a special coin ONLY for Lake Superior members who are members of record by November 30th each year

For 2025, the 50th anniversary of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald's sinking, we have both a special LS coin and a retail coin.  Orders for additional LS coins are due prior to November 30, 2025.  Retail coins will be mostly limited, so we suggest pre-ordering as we don't plan to stock many in the store.   Both options are available in the MiGO store.
2025 Lake Superior Member Coin - this version has text stating it's for Lake Superior Members and your GC name can be etched on the coin per your profile selections.

If you are a LS member and you want extra LS coins, please visit the MiGO store and filter on the topic of "Lake Superior Only"

2025 Retail Coin

This version does not state lake Superior member and there is no option to add your GC name.

Place orders via the MiGO Store

If you are a supporting member of MiGO (Lake Superior, Lake Huron Levels), you have a stake in the organization.  Have you ever wondered how MiGO spends money, or what MiGO brings in?  One of the things you have access to in the "documents" section of the website is monthly financial re-caps.  See the screen shots below.

Hover over your membership level in the ribbon, select documents from the drop down, and look for Financial & Legal (Public) in the documents list.

MiGO Store Updates

MiGO is a distributor for Shop Geocaching, GeoSwag and CacheCraft.  New items have recently been added to the store, and we add inventory of new or existing items as needed.  Shop MiGO first.  If there is something you feel we should carry drop us a note and let us know.

Once again, MiGO will participate in the Groundspeak trackable promotion.  Free trackables will be included with in-stock store orders over $25 while supplies last.  (This excludes pre-orders for WS swag, LS Coins and our one-time retail version of our LS coin; these items are not "stocked").

From your Challenge Committee

The MiGO 2025 Holiday Challenge begins on November 17th and runs through January 5th

What do the Elves have planned for you?

Challenge of Challenges

Coming up in January the Challenge Committee is soliciting your ideas for future challenges. This can be done via Facebook or with a form on the MiGO website. Tell us what challenges you'd like to see and if your idea is selected you'll win a prize. Multiple ideas? No problem. Multiple winners? It could happen so let's hear from you. (note that we are looking for fully executable ideas.  You need to do more than make a suggestion)

The committee will take a break in Jan/Feb as we prepare for Winter Social.

After Winter Social, the committee will do a redux of the Zip Code challenge.

To join the committee (we always need fresh ideas) shoot us a message.

Michigan County Grid Challenge

A really BIG Challenge for everyone!  This is not a contest.  Everyone can qualify for a reward, not to mention bragging rights!
The challenge is a multi-year commitment by the MiGO Challenge Committee, EC and Board.  Can you cover half of the state (Bronze), three quarters of the state (Silver) or the entire state, (Gold), finding an assortment of geocache types in 42, 63 or 83 counties.  Who will top the leaderboard out of the gate?  Who will be the first to claim a prize?  Who will be first to reach for the Gold?

MiGO's goal is to promote the sport of geocaching, an appreciation of the outdoors, and good environmental stewardship, through cooperative efforts with Michigan geocachers and land management officials.

MiGO encourages members to submit articles for our newsletter.  Submissions should be related to caching or the MiGO community and can include write ups on specific caches or events, a story about a caching experience, a tribute to another cacher, past or present, a write up about your trip to a past Mega or even caching tips.
