The Muskegon River gently winds through some of the most beautiful wilderness that Michigan has to offer. The river is wide enough to provide the canoeist plenty of room to manuever and enjoy the natural beauty along the float. This stretch has a mostly sandy bottom with plenty of places to stop and picnic. Leave no trace and practice CITO.
The posted coordinates are the take out point. Meet there at 10:00am. We will have to shuttle watercraft upstream. Even if you don't plan to head down the river, please show up to see us off. This is a 3 hour paddle. I plan to place caches along this stretch.
If you don't have a watercraft, canoes and kayaks are available at both the put in and take out points.
