Grandma & Grandpa Bailey's Cache #2 by tadabailey

December 29, 2007 by TreePlanter
Found this one after the event. A nice hide. I am glad I was able to find it. The footprints in the snow were fun to see in the snow. What was in that chili? Na, just cachers in their normal search circles for sure! TFTC!

Found this cache, along with Pepsiman and several others, after enjoying good chili and good company at Bailey's Chili Cache Event. Nice hide, not what I was expecting! Took nothing, SL. Thanks for the fun and for the chili!

A-ha! Very clever hide. We've seen just one other cache like this before. Nice idea and very well done! Grabbed the TB and left a cool highlighter. Thanks for the fun!

We did this neat little multi-mystery on a beautiful fall day. Nice park, and nice cache.

Out with Wolverine Warriors and MoJoLove today caching around. This was a fun one! Figured out stage one with no problems. The 2nd stage was a little rough though. We spent a while working on it, but as soon as we wrote it down and looked at it, the code popped right out at us. TFTC!!

Alden Historical Multi-Cache by AldenSearchParty

It was a nippy day walking around Alden, but after a nice warm lunch at the restaurant, we were pretty well recharged. We combined this cache with the "In Memory of Sam" cache, and got a nice tour of town. We'll definitely have to come back sometime in the summer and explore further. We found the stages and the final container fairly easily. Took the geocoin, and will find a new home within the next couple days. Left a hacky sack and our sig card. Thanks for the hide and the tour.

Out caching with my wife, brother and sister in-laws. One of 8 we found today. First multi-cache for my wife and I.. Loads of fun today in Alden. Recommend local resturant. Can not remember the full name but if you see "Onions" in the name you are there. Great selection and the food was great.

TFTC. Out here on a geocaching vacation. Good hide. This is one of the best spots I have ever visited. Thanks so much for the great spot.

Found this cache on our way to the sunrise side after the Turkey Trot Fore event. The bridge and the area was very pretty today with the recent snow fall. TN, left a sig pencil and the Hoover Dam TB. TFTC

We are troop 147 of Holland Michigan. We spent the weekend hiking the Manistee River Trail. This was our troops first ever geocaching experience. We had a great time. We had 10 scouts and 5 adults with us.

This was the first cache that we found. One of our scouts got a pretty muddy foot. We were excited to find a couple of Boy Scout items in this cache. We left the Trails End popcorn pin, but took a Boy Scout Klondike Derby patch.

I love the forest here. Over the Thanksgiving weekend I had a blast caching with Photobug2: We attended the “Turkey Trot Fore Event” and found 56 caches. TFTC

Found this one today while searching out #800! We were everywhere out here today, even visited Tippy dam just for fun!  We needed 8 caches for our milestone, that was found about 3 hours after our first find! So much fun trying to figure out where to turn next and what "road" led where! The Magellan had all of them showing on the maps, but we mostly like o follow the arrow (more fun).  Not reading the entire cache page, I thought the tower would still be there and was slightly disappointed that it wasn't...should always read the cache page fully!  We did have fun though, thanks for bringing us out here!

What a View to the West... by e_d_e

Took a ride down some trails around Jones Lake State Forest and decided to try to find a cache. We entered the coordinates and found this easy cache. It IS a pretty view to the west. I think we're hooked on Geocaching. Thanks for the Cache.

We loaded up the pickup and journeyed out to find this cache.  We put the ladies in comfortable reclining chairs out back and let them bark GPS directions to the pilot. They did a fine job of navigating to the spot. Hoofed off thru the woods ever so slightly and found the cache. It is a nice view to the west. Logged our visit. This is our 3rd cache. Should have downloaded more coordinates. Oh well, next time.

How do I get There? by SS D.S.K

July 29, 2007 by TreePlanter
This is a great cache. I am putting on my Best List.  I liked everything about it. I started off at the hard beaver dam side. Too many snakes in that area. I turned around after coming to within 500 ft. of the cache, and found the easier longer way. The water had lots of minnows in there. It was a great, nice , woodsy hike, and quiet too. Not a noise around, anywhere. I couldn't find the cache. I spread out wider, and wider of area and found it!!! YES!!! I took a ruler and left a TreePlanter Geocoin , that is not trackable, not many of these left anymore., a signature magnet, a snake (From earlier in this trip!) and some lucky wooden nickels. TFTC!  It is a great one in a great area!

Went in to find this cache last night thinking I had plenty of time before dark set in. Piglett too and I started out singing on our way in. The GPS kept finding no signal but we kept going. Figured the shortest way was a straight line. Definately not the quickest, as we went through the swamp and marshes -- Piglet with a piggy back ride and mom with wet feet. On we trecked, and finely made it to the right area and within 20 feet of the cache when of course the GPS went dead (new batteries too). Got dark enough we couldn't see by this time, had to fumble around trying all the shadows in the dark but finely located the cache. Couldn't see anything and had to walk all the way back in the pitch black. Good thing I was pretty familiar with the area from hunting as a kid. TFTC WOW! What an adventure.

Basswood Bend's Treeplanter Cache by basswoodbend

October 28, 2007 by DinoDuo
We were on a mission today to find this cache and make it a personal milestone. We know the owners and have found most of their caches (all enjoyable, most clever, and many very difficult) in addition to becoming good friends and spending many fun times together with them (They were some of the first cachers that we met on the trail when we started this pastime soon to be 4 years ago). After spending the afternoon collecting the 9 necessary “pre” caches we were ready to tackle this one. We managed to find an access from the E only 400’+ away, (thanks to 4wheel drive and high ground clearance) but after descending the “slope” (needed mt.goat shoes) discovered that we were on the non-cache side of the Jaxon Creek. Although not very wide, it was nonetheless beyond the long jumping abilities of either of the Duo. To make things worse, we could see the container smirking at us from its’ hiding spot and it was starting to get dark down here in the valley even though it was only 5:30. After some thought, we constructed a makeshift bridge of several logs, then using a pole for support and balance, we made our way across the span with only minimal dampness. Once on the correct side, we did our version of the 3K victory dance. D-TP’s Coin T-TP’s & Rattrack’s Coin # L-Sig Card & a pair of Scissors. This cache was certainly a fitting challenge for this milestone, and will provide us with great memories of our quest. Thanks for showing us this place and providing this adventure, you guys are the BEST!

Today was the day to find this fine cache! I asked the team who wanted to do a good hill decent & climb, and with a slight wilderness scramble, and "HillHiker" said, "I'll go with ya, dad!" So, off we went! (The other team members, didn't like the word "slight". This is a Great Area for sure! I love the creek sounds of water rushing! This area reminds me so much of the Hidden Valley days of my youth near Gaylord. The property is owned by the Otsego Ski Club. It was a great wilderness area that I have been lost in many times before my 19th birthday. Way, way, before a gps was known. Way, way, in Neat wilderness, and creeks just like this one. Now, it is a golf course. Geesh..... I think this is one reason I hate that game.
Anyway...
This is a fine area and thanks to Basswoodbend for putting my name on this fine cache. We moved on the Muir coin, Left a Thanks For The Cache Coin , to Stay At This Location. Just "Discover" this coin. I will be happy to pick it up and move it on in a few months. It gives me a reason to come back here! We found ourselves on the wrong side of the creek and took off our shoes and made it across. Our First creek/river crossing for 2007. Coords are right on. Down to 2 ft. after 40 min. (We took our time here, and enjoyed it.)

5th find of the day at 3:25 p.m. Neat place. Makes you wonder who lived there and what they did. It would be fun to research this information.

It would be very interesting to see a picture of the house that was here. If you look close you see that it was a fairly good size house. Be careful not to fall into the old Outhouse hole!!!

Town of Comfort Ghost Town  by AldenSearchParty

We snowshoed in during a white-out blizzard, temps below zero. The wooded trail provided some shelter. Found the cache...it was frozen in place, so we had to dig it out. TN, Left troll & rubber duck. Stopped on the way back to have a winter picnic just off the trail under the shelter of some large white pines. TYFTC.

Twentieth and last find as SleepyWeasel, VanMan, and myself invade Antrim and Kalkaska counties!  Oh man, was this cache a fun find! Probably one of the best caches ever to end a day. The second I overheard Sleepyweasel that this next cache might be at a ghost town, I knew I wanted to go after this one. I am a ghost town hunter and love taking pictures of them. I managed to take a couple low quality pictures and might try to post them once I get the chance to load them up on the laptop. The walk to the cache was very enjoyable and the find proved to be easy enough. I took the Handyman TB and left one of my imaginary friends. Thanks for bringing me to one of the coolest places in Michigan!

Honorable Mentions (but still great caches).
