Our free membership gives you many benefits. MiGO is one of the oldest
and most respected Geocaching organizations in the country. Since our
inception in April, 2002 we have grown both in size and stature. In
2007 we were granted an organizational land use permit by the Michigan
DNR. This permit is paid annually by MiGO and enables all our members
to place caches on permitted DNR lands at no fee. This is just one of
the many benefits of your free membership. You'll also become part of a
local and tight-knit Geocaching community with an active interest in
caching in our state. Our forums are very active and are a great place
to meet cachers and learn.
Nominated by BSW2010, “Glenn is one of the best cachers in our area and contributes a lot to the geocaching community. He hosts an event every year on New Year’s Day. This proud Silver Level EarthCashe Master puts a lot of thought and effort into every cache he hides. Glenn keeps us plenty busy and is willing to help with any of his hides.”

On April 11, 2002 - MiGO was formed. A yahoo group was established to enable everyone to get online and talk about where to take the new group. With no real leadership structure at the start, it was agreed there would be a first picnic to discuss the new group and who would step up and lead the steering group.
On April 27, 2002 in Grand Woods Park in Lansing, Michigan the first group of MiGO cachers converged for an afternoon of caching fun. Rusty had secured the pavillion and set up a closest to the pin. Everyone brought sweets to share and there was a great showcase of travel bugs and new cache ideas. It was a lot of fun and the day ended with a meeting to discuss the formalization of MiGO. The group in attendance indicated their approval for trippy1976, Rusty, and Zuckerruebensirup to act as a steering group to file the paperwork and create the initial bylaws for the group.
Since its inception in 2002 by a ragtag group of Geocachers on a mailing list and at a picnic - MiGO has taken membership to over 1300 Geocachers and maintains an active membership database of over 500 Geocachers. MiGO has grown to be recognized as the "goto" club in the state for land managers.
